1.7. RACE Rules.
This event is supported by the Western Province Triathlon Association and TSA. Wetsuits will be allowed for the race.
1.7.1. Disciplines
1.7.1.1. Swim
The swimming will be 100m, in the GOUKOU River with an outgoing tide. It is LOWTIDE at 10H32, but the river is about 30-40 minutes “late”, so the swimmers will have a nice quick swim from the Jetty to the patch of sand at the caravan park. The transition will be in the RACE VILLAGE on the BEACH.
The river is salt and a very safe option for the swimming leg. On the outgoing tide the river is shallow and the support of the NSRI will help with the safety in the water. This is an ideal time of year with a warm and safe swim. The worst case scenario will be if the South Easter is blowing very hard. There might be blue bottles in the water but an early morning swim at low tide will almost assure a problem free experience.
1.7.1.2. Bike (32km)
Mountain biking (32km) options are open for 2012 and road biking (40km) will only be open for 2013. The mountain biking will go from the RACE Village via the Pauline Bohnen Reserve to Melkhoutfontein and back to Stilbaai to the FINISHING Area.
1.7.1.3. Run (10km of sand, 500m, gravel road, single track and tar road 500m))
2. RACE ROUTE
The RACE ROUTE is important for us. At 24-7 adventure we understand adventure, endurance racing and multi-sport. Our philosophy is not to design a route purely for the reason of racing. It MUST be spectacular, fun and adventurous! The race ends with a fun event over the river, NOT compromising the COPETITIVE side of the sport. A lot of effort is been put into the options of the route. Study the detail and come and join us on race day! Safety is of utmost importance for us, so you can be sure that we in Stilbaai will look after your safety.
